Appointments
How appointments work
For Germany, you do not pick a slot. You register, and an appointment is allocated to you automatically once one becomes available.
Short-stay applicants (under 90 days: tourism, medical treatment, family or friends visit, business) cannot book a slot. The applicant registers on TLScontact and enters application details; the application is validated and then placed in a queue; appointments are assigned on a first come, first served basis subject to availability; the applicant is emailed when an appointment is allocated and then has 24 hours to pay the service fee and confirm, and must print the allocation notification for the welcome area. Live at London and Manchester from 1 June 2026 and at Edinburgh from 1 August 2026. The German Embassy calls this a waiting list established to ensure fair and equal access to appointments, and confirms that appointments are allocated automatically. Officially only queue position, slot availability and meeting the 24-hour confirmation window are stated to matter; no official source says registration completeness, contact details or time of registration affects allocation speed. Other visa categories keep the old self-booking system.

Important
Before you apply
Germany accepts a reserved ticket. It does not require the ticket to be paid in full, unlike Greece.
The one-month recency rule collides with Germany's random slot allocation: documents gathered early go stale before the appointment arrives.
